A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our team at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals Trust. The Cardio-Respiratory Units are friendly, busy and rapidly expanding diagnostic units. We offer a wide range of investigations to the Trust including resting ECGs, 24 hour ECG and BP monitoring, Event Recording, Transthoracic, Transoesophageal and Stress Echocardiography, Pacemaker follow-up and Lung Function Testing. We have recently opened a Community Diagnostic Centre at our Barking Hospital site and are soon to open a CDC at St Georges Hospital in Hornchurch, which will provide a range of diagnostics in the community setting.

We are looking for a forward thinking, enthusiastic individual to join a dedicated team of professionals working to the highest quality standards. You should be appropriately qualified, have a highly specialist standard, experience at a senior grade and be able to independently perform, interpret and report Echocardiograms. You should possess BSE Adult Transthoracic Accreditation or equivalent. We would consider an applicant that does not have BSE qualification, however they would still be required to have Echo experience and may be recruited as a Band 6 until Band 7 competencies are met.

Main duties of the job:

  • To provide a high quality, appropriate and effective Cardio-Respiratory investigation service.
  • To supervise, guide and support all junior members of staff.
  • To be responsible for the organisation and delivery of an area of specialist responsibility as allocated by the Lead Cardiac Physiologist.

Person specification:

  • Education / Qualifications: BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent Professional qualifications of BSE or equivalent or at least working towards this (To achieve this on appointment).
  • Experience / Knowledge: Highly specialist standard and experience at a senior grade to be able to independently perform, interpret and report on the investigations carried out within the Cardio-Respiratory Unit including understanding of Event Recording, Pacing, Invasive investigations, 24 hour ECG and BP monitoring.
