The Road Safety team have embraced the Safe System Approach to collision and injury prevention and reduction, introducing new processes and technologies to meet the City of Edinburgh Council's statutory responsibilities and ambitious casualty reduction targets.
Responsibilities:
- Managing an active, public facing mailbox, assessing and allocating internal and external enquiries and correspondence.
- Undertaking investigations using Microsoft products and specialist software programmes.
- Supporting a team of officers with their projects.
- Undertaking community and professional liaison.
- Maintaining records.
This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities and the post-holder will undertake any other duties arising and reasonably pertaining to the post.
Requirements:
- Educated to HNC level in relevant discipline or with extensive demonstrable skills, knowledge, experience and competence at an appropriate level.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Business and commercial acumen to support operational delivery of professional services, including the ability to interpret and understand complex technical, financial and budgetary information.
- Creative and innovative approach to problem solving, exhibiting a 'can-do' problem solving attitude, based on the principles of governance, risk management, probity, statutory requirement and best value.
- Successful partnership working and networking with key stakeholders, e.g. citizens, voluntary sector, business communities, suppliers, utility companies, developers and other public agencies.
- Knowledge, experience and understanding of planning, developing, designing and delivering Road Safety projects and initiatives.
- Experience and demonstrable competence in using specialist ICT systems.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the Council's Road Safety Action Plan.
- Knowledge of legislation affecting and influencing Road Safety.
- Knowledge of CDM and Health & Safety legislation.
The team undertakes hybrid working, with their office base being the Council office at Waverley Court, next to Waverley Station. Team members are expected to be in the office and/or attend site meetings at least two days a week.
