Support for Learning Leader – Fixed Term until 29/06/2027 at Tynecastle High School. Salary: £64,659 pro rata for part‑time; hours: 7.70 per week (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday).
Role Overview
Support for Learning Leader will lead a team of SfL teachers and pupil support assistants. The successful candidate will build supportive relationships with pupils in the Support for Learning programme and will work on integrating pupils with a wide range of needs into the curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of SfL teachers and pupil support assistants.
- Develop and implement strategies that support the integration of pupils with diverse needs into the school curriculum.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and staff to promote pastoral care and welfare.
- Maintain a high standard of pastoral care, ensuring pupils' welfare and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with other school staff to provide inclusive education.
- Coordinate with parents and external agencies where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and related safeguarding procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified teaching or educational leadership experience.
- Experience working with pupils with special educational needs or safeguarding responsibilities.
- Required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo an update check; completion of an overseas criminal record check if applicable.
- Knowledge of SQA exams and university placement processes in Scotland.
Salary will be consistent with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education. We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce.
