University Teacher in Work, Employment and Organisations in Sheffield

Overview

Sheffield University Management School is seeking an experienced University Teacher in Work, Employment and Organisations, to support delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes.

In this role, you will specifically contribute to the development and delivery of our Work, Employment and Organisations teaching and assessment, on a range of modules within our integrated undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum (e. g.

MSc Human Resource Management; BA (Hons) Business Management).

You will be a key member of the team, working with colleagues across a range of disciplines (e. g. work and employment studies, organisational behaviour, industrial relations).

Candidates for this post should have experience of delivering teaching in these disciplinary areas, through lectures, workshops and seminars, in a Higher Education setting.

Candidates should also show a commitment to developing their national and/or international profile in Work, Employment and Organisations education.

A commitment to fresh thinking, flexibility and adaptability in approach are more essential to this role.

Based in the Sheffield University Management School ( https://www. sheffield. ac. uk/management ), you will join a vibrant community of teachers and researchers building the discipline of Management.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Working with the Work, Employment and Organisations (WEO) Subject Group, develop and deliver relevant teaching within the School's taught programmes, ensuring that it is accessible, inclusive and contributes to the University's Teaching and Learning Strategy.
• Improve and enhance the student experience and student outcomes through programme delivery based on a detailed understanding of student needs and professional requirements.
• Behave ethically in all aspects of your role and act as a role‑model for our students.
• Undertake scholarship activities in education, appropriate to the role, that have a positive impact on student outcomes and are influential on a national / international level.
• Engage in recruitment and outreach activities which may include activities outside standard working hours, for example Open Days.
• Engage in core administrative areas to support the delivery of the WEO programmes e. g. student advising and mentoring.
• Represent the institution with external stakeholders (within and outside the profession) to foster collaboration, at a regional or national level as required.
• Work according to University quality assurance processes and other regulatory frameworks including Professional Regulatory bodies (e. g. CIPD).
• Actively contribute to the collective interests and values of the University through individual action and inclusive, collaborative working.
• Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post.

Person Specification

• A Ph D (or equivalent relevant experience) in a relevant subject — Essential (Application)
• Experience of teaching Work, Employment and Organisations or an associated discipline, in a Higher Education environment — Essential (Application and Interview)
• Teaching qualification e. g. FHEA, PGCert Higher Education or evidence of working towards — Essential (Application)
• Experience of working and communicating with a team of staff — Essential (Application and Interview)
• Experience of developing strong working relationships with partners within and external to Higher Education — Essential (Application and Interview)
• Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving — Essential (Application and Interview)
• Experience of working independently on project activities — Essential (Application and Interview)
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and effective IT skills — Essential (Application and Interview)
