Overview
The University of Sheffield, in collaboration with NHS England North East and Yorkshire and Sheffield Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is pleased to announce an Academic Clinical Lecturer post in Clinical Genetics (CG) has been awarded to the School of Medicine and Population Health at The University of Sheffield as part of the prestigious UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC)/ Modernising Medical Careers (MMC) integrated academic training (IAT) pathway. The post forms an integral part of the CG clinical academic training programme led by the Training Programme Director Professor Meena Balasubramanian. We are seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic individuals with the potential to excel in both their clinical and academic training and who have the ambition to be part of the next generation of academic clinicians in genomic medicine.
The post represents an exciting opportunity and is designed for individuals seeking to integrate advanced clinical training in Clinical Genetics with a significant postdoctoral research component. The post offers a dedicated 50% for clinical duties and 50% for academic research, facilitated through a rotational system, with dedicated periods devoted to research. The Postgraduate Medical Dean has confirmed that this post has been approved for specialty training.

Criteria
- Benchmarked at the NTN Clinical Genetics National Recruitment or currently be in an approved training post with an NTN.
- MRCP or equivalent.
- Primary medical degree.
- Evidence of academic achievement and will hold a PhD or equivalent.
- Completed core training sufficient for entry into specialty training grades.
- Full registration with UK General Medical Council.
- Previous UK based experience in CG in a recognised training position.
- Experience in other clinical specialities.
- Experience of teaching clinical skills.
- Demonstrate commitment to further research.
- Demonstrate evidence of knowledge of external grant funding bodies and application procedures.
- Track record of research productivity in terms of peer-reviewed publications.
- Organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to communicate accurately and concisely, verbally and in writing.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a collaborative manner.
- Demonstrate the ability to engage in their own learning in an independent and proactive manner in accordance with the training requirements.
- Demonstrate desire and capability to engage in clinical governance via audit and/or service evaluations.

Grade: Clinical Academic Trainees
Salary: £54,499 to £76,582 per annum
Work arrangement: Full time
Duration: Fixed term for a maximum of 4 years or until CCT (with 6 months extension) is reached, whichever is sooner
