As a Technical Lead in the Composite Centre Team, you will provide leadership and mentorship to Research Engineers and Technicians. You will be expected to contribute to the research objectives of the Composite Centre team, whilst contributing to the delivery of several concurrent world leading research and development projects to industrial requirements. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning of projects and resources
- Project team leadership
- Regular communication with customers and partners
- Delivery of technical projects to timescales
- Technical problem solving
You will primarily work in cutting edge research with dry fibre conversion technologies for composite applications, but will also support the wider composites team. With excellent experience of fibre technology and processing, you will further develop your expertise and become a UK Lead in the field.
In order to be considered for this role, you will need to have a proven track record of technical delivery within the field of fibre processing. You should be able to demonstrate the ability to manage industrial and government stakeholders. The results of previous work should demonstrate the ability to manage people and allocate resources across a range of projects to achieve the technical deliveries of the centre. Maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring timely reporting in line with the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre Quality Management System is essential.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Leading on the technical delivery of projects for a range of partners and funding bodies in the field of dry fibre processing
- Line management of a team of staff, including target setting and annual SRDS reviews
- Accountability for the technical decision making within your area of responsibility
- Regular communication and formal reporting to project teams, stakeholders and customers
- Reviewing and approving reports on the outcomes of research experiments
- Establishing a reputation for being the world-class solution provider and technical advice on your field of expertise
- Developing a clear strategic plan of engagement/representation at relevant conferences
- Development of technical solutions, ideas, theories and techniques for project staff
- Maintaining a high reputation through project delivery and customer engagement
- Leading and guiding others to build high performing teams
- Responsible for the risk management of the projects in the portfolio
- Providing stakeholder and senior management communication of project status
- Providing AMRC partners with confidence, support and value for money
