Role Overview

The Pupil Support Leader will lead the school's Rights Respecting Schools work at the whole‑school level, supporting students with severe and complex needs and promoting a safe, inclusive environment for all pupils.

Salary and Hours

Salary: £62,265 per annum
Hours: 35 per week
Employment Terms: Permanent role commencing August 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of rights‑respecting practice across the school.
  • Coordinate support for pupils with severe and complex needs, working closely with the Enhanced Support Base and mainstream classrooms.
  • Provide leadership in safeguarding and well‑being initiatives, ensuring compliance with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
  • Advise staff and pupils on rights, equality, diversity and inclusion, reflecting the school's commitment to anti‑racism, LGBT+ inclusivity and cultural diversity.

Requirements and Conditions

This role is regulated work with children and protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Those who have spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years must provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check; the check is required for all candidates.
