Hours: 35 per week, 52 weeks
Working days: Monday to Friday.
We are recruiting for a Primary Teacher to cover a period of maternity leave up to 8th October 2027. For the remainder of the 2026/27 academic year, the successful applicant will be teaching our P2/3 class.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic classroom practitioner to join our dynamic team. Ideally, the successful applicant will have experience and developed skills working at early level into first.
Abbeyhill Primary is a co-educational and non-denominational school located in the heart of Edinburgh, overlooking the Palace of Holyrood House and Arthur's Seat. The Senior Leadership Team includes a Head Teacher, Principal Teacher and Business Manager.
We pride ourselves on being at the heart of our community with strong links to the Palace, local businesses and the annual Colony of Artists festival. We fully utilise Holyrood Park for Forest Adventures and outdoor learning for both our school and nursery children. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
