Start a Career That Makes a Difference. West Midlands Police is recruiting new Police Constables through the Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) — a practical, non-degree route into policing. This is an opportunity to build a meaningful career serving diverse communities across the West Midlands. As a Police Officer, you will play a vital role in protecting the public, supporting vulnerable individuals, and helping to create safer, more inclusive neighbourhoods. No two days are the same. You could be responding to emergency calls, working with victims of crime, engaging with local communities, or helping manage major public events.

About the Programme

  • Two-year, work-based training programme
  • 22 weeks of initial training at Tally Ho! Training Centre
  • Blended learning with classroom and real-world experience
  • Ongoing support, mentoring, and development
  • Early exposure to frontline policing alongside experienced officers

Following successful completion, you can explore specialist roles including investigations, neighbourhood policing, roads policing, firearms, and more. Please note: This is not a direct entry detective pathway.

Salary & Benefits

  • Starting salary of £31,164, rising to £50,256 within seven years
  • 25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 days after five years

Who Can Apply

  • You must meet one of the following:
  • GCSE English (Grade 4/C or above) and a Level 3 qualification (e.g. A-levels), or
  • At least 12 months’ experience in a relevant role such as policing, prison service, NHS frontline care, or social care, or
  • 18 months’ military service

Additional Requirements

  • Meet the fitness standard (bleep test level 5.4)
  • Pass medical and vetting checks
  • Have lived in the UK for the past three years
  • Have the right to work in the UK without restrictions
