The City of Edinburgh Council offers a Modern Apprenticeship designed to provide new and returning entrants to the labour market with paid employment combined with on-site training and academic study in Painting and Decorating. As a 4-year apprentice you will learn a range of essential skills, complete decorating work to a high standard, and maintain council properties.

Responsibilities

  • Attend on-site training and academic classes related to Painting and Decorating.
  • Carry out decorating work to a high standard for council properties.
  • Participate in practical work placements as part of learning.
  • Maintain safety and quality standards while working.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A graduate of secondary education in the last 3 years, or currently enrolled in a City of Edinburgh Council employability training programme, or aged up to 29 with disability or care experience.
  • Willingness to participate in a Modern Apprenticeship programme.
  • Willingness to obtain a driving licence and ability to travel to college.
  • Will be expected to complete an SVQ Level 3 / SCQ Level 6 qualification, passing all exams and standards required to qualify in this trade.
