Women's Justice Worker (Fixed Term until 31/03/2027)

Edinburgh Justice Services are committed to providing high quality services while ensuring a compassionate approach to those accessing our services and supporting staff wellbeing. We offer extensive training to support continuous professional development and deliver a broad range of interventions, including accredited group work programmes. We implement Trauma Informed Care and Restorative Justice practice models across our services, and have established a Women’s Centre where all Justice Services for women are delivered from, to reduce barriers and meet the needs of women involved in the Justice System.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Willow Services, working from the Women’s Justice Centre where we offer trauma‑informed, gender‑specific services and operate in line with evidence‑based key principles. Women aged 18+ can attend as part of a statutory order or voluntarily, including women entitled to support due to their partner’s or ex‑partner’s involvement with the Caledonian system. The team is multidisciplinary and includes support workers, social workers, psychologists, nursing staff as well as key third‑sector partners and peer supporters, all contributing to the delivery of a range of interventions and support offered to the women in an integrated way. This includes one‑to‑one and group work interventions as well as community outreach support.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to a broad range of provision alongside colleagues from other disciplines and services.
- Apply in‑depth knowledge of the justice system and specific issues facing women, delivering best practice interventions.
- Support women experiencing mental health difficulties and complex trauma through trauma‑informed practice.
- Assess and manage risk, working within legal frameworks and adult support and protection legislation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience as a justice worker or a similar role with a deep understanding of the justice system and issues affecting women.
- Experience working with people experiencing mental health difficulties and complex trauma, and knowledge of best practice approaches.
- Ability to assess and manage risk within various legal frameworks and the adult support and protection legislation.
- CVG Scheme membership or an updated check; Overseas Criminal Record Check if required.
- Commitment to working with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
