The City of Edinburgh Council is recruiting a Cycling Officer to strengthen the Bikeability programme across Edinburgh's primary school and special schools. The role will focus on:

  • Working with targeted primary and special schools to support children to learn to ride and to achieve Cycling Scotland's Bikeability levels.
  • Supporting and mentoring staff.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed officer to join our Sport & Physical Activity team. This is a full-time fixed-term position, and applications are welcomed from people who hold a recognised cycle delivery qualification. This exciting role involves delivering high-quality cycling sessions and upskilling staff. Flexibility, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to providing excellent learning experiences are essential.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety and be confident working with children of varying abilities and levels of confidence on bikes.

Before You Apply:

  • This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
  • Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
  • An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
