School Overview: With almost 1800 pupils we are one of the largest secondary schools in Edinburgh. Our Warrender Park Road campus comprises of a main teaching block (Malala Building), a state-of-the-art sports complex (Eric Liddell Sports Building) and an impressive music and drama suite including studio and theatre (Muriel Spark Building) with further teaching accommodation in our grade 1 listed building, Brunstfield House. We also have a newly refurbished annexe (Darroch) at Gillespie Street. Staff will regularly travel between the two sites.
Responsibilities & Role Summary: They will be enthusiastic and have demonstrated contributions to department and whole school activities in previous posts.
Requirements & Qualifications: This is a permanent post within the Faculty of Humanities, which is comprised of a broad range of subjects delivered from BGE to Advanced Higher and Baccalaureate level. Experience of delivering additional Humanities subjects would be advantageous. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
