Support for Learning Leader – Fixed Term until 29/06/2027 at Tynecastle High School. Salary: £64,659 pro rata for part‑time; hours: 7.70 per week (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday).

Role Overview

Support for Learning Leader will lead a team of SfL teachers and pupil support assistants. The successful candidate will build supportive relationships with pupils in the Support for Learning programme and will work on integrating pupils with a wide range of needs into the curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of SfL teachers and pupil support assistants.
  • Develop and implement strategies that support the integration of pupils with diverse needs into the school curriculum.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and staff to promote pastoral care and welfare.
  • Maintain a high standard of pastoral care, ensuring pupils' welfare and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with other school staff to provide inclusive education.
  • Coordinate with parents and external agencies where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and related safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified teaching or educational leadership experience.
  • Experience working with pupils with special educational needs or safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo an update check; completion of an overseas criminal record check if applicable.
  • Knowledge of SQA exams and university placement processes in Scotland.
