Pennywell Early Learning and Childcare, part of the MacMillan Hub, opened in August 2024 and provides high quality learning experiences for children and families.

Salary: £26,806 – £27,032 (pro rata for sessional)

Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional

We are looking for an enthusiastic Early Years Assistant on a permanent, 39‑week, sessional basis. No formal qualification is required, but candidates should have a good basic education and be literate and numerate.

Early Years Assistants must apply for registration with SSSC within three months of being offered a post and must also obtain an SVQ2/SCQF Level 6 qualification within three years of taking up the role.

The successful candidate will be required to work shift patterns within the setting, between 07:45 and 18:00, Monday to Friday, with some late shifts on rotation each month.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.

An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both of these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
