Salary: £26,806 - £27,032 (pro‑rate for part‑time)
Hours: up to 20 per week, 52 weeks per year

Granton Early Years is a large, busy setting with a capacity for 64 children at any one time. Children attend various patterns of attendance between 8am and 6pm, 52 weeks per year. Working in partnership with families, we promote children’s learning and development, help close the attainment gap and ensure equity for all. As we continue to develop our service, our setting offers a natural environment with outdoor spaces that back onto the local Community Garden, with the Community Centre situated next door. We encourage our team to strive for high standards with support and development opportunities available at all levels.

Post Details

  • Post 1: 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9.30am – 1.30pm (4 hours each day)
  • Post 2: 16 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 10.30am – 2.30pm (4 hours each day)

Responsibilities

  • Support children in learning and development; promote children’s learning, help close the attainment gap and ensure equity for all.
  • Support children to be confident, capable individuals and help them achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to the ethos and values of the setting through good communication and professional discussion, using training and knowledge to demonstrate enthusiasm for Early Years.
  • Apply for registration with SSSC within three months of being offered a post and gain a SVQ2/SCQF Level 6 qualification within 3 years of taking up the role.

Qualifications

  • Good basic education; literate and numerate. No formal qualification is required initially.

Regulation and Checks

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Records Check will be required. Must provide this check; an unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
