Hours: 30 per week

We are looking for a Depute Head Teacher who will work to ensure every child can claim their right to an education. Working across the Primary School (P1 and P2) and our nursery St Leonard's, you will have the skills required to lead the Early Years and will be committed to promoting Health and Wellbeing. Applicants will be committed to raising attainment. As a skilled practitioner, the successful candidate will be able to transfer their own high standards and knowledge of pedagogy to colleagues as a means of developing high quality learning and teaching.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and will demonstrate an ability to direct, motivate and support others. They will have experience of leading and involving stakeholders in whole school improvement. We are looking for someone who is nurturing, compassionate and invested in children, families and staff. Your values will be underpinned by the UNCRC and GIRFEC and you will play a key role in raising attainment through capacity building, support for learners and working with partners. This will be achieved by demonstrating effective communication skills which align with the GTC Standards and the City of Edinburgh Council Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility.

Legal and Safeguarding Requirements

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
