As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you’ll be a key member of our Facilities Management team. You’ll deliver a vital cleaning service across our estate to ensure our properties are safe and clean places to work or learn.

Major Tasks / Job Activities
- Empty litter and recycling bins.
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within the building group.
- Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables.
- Perform emergency and reactive cleaning as required (e.g., graffiti removal, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages).
- Care for and maintain equipment used in cleaning duties.
- Perform other related tasks as reasonably required, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings.
- Deliver to the cleaning specification and cooperate with performance measurement to meet agreed standards.
Keyholding responsibilities include operating security alarm systems, closing windows and doors, switching off lights, and ensuring premises are left safe and secure when closing.
Qualifications & Checks
This role involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Applicants must join or update the PVG Scheme. An Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required if the candidate has spent three months or more outside the UK in the last five years.
