We are excited to offer Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeships (PGTA) starting September 2026 at Bromley Schools' Collegiate. This apprenticeship programme provides a unique opportunity for individuals to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) while earning a salary. Apprentices will be part of our highly successful teacher training programme and will work towards achieving QTS, with the End-Point Assessment (EPA) taking place in September 2027.
Course Overview
The PGTA at Bromley Schools' Collegiate follows a similar structure to our long-established Salaried ITT programme, which has been successful for many years. Apprentices receive high-quality training and classroom experience, including two placements in contrasting schools to develop a broad and balanced perspective on teaching. Training begins in September 2026 and concludes in July 2027, with a recommendation for QTS. The EPA will take place in September 2027, assessing each apprentice’s readiness to qualify as a teacher.

The PGTA mirrors the evidence requirements and placement structure of the Salaried ITT programme, equipping apprentices with the professional skills and experience needed to become confident, effective educators. Throughout the year, trainees receive exceptional support, including mentoring, in‑school guidance, and academic training from expert practitioners.
Salary & Funding
- £29,000 – Chemistry, Computing, Mathematics, and Physics
- £26,000 – French, German, and Spanish (no other languages)
- £17,000 – Other languages, Biology, Design & Technology, and Geography
- £1,000 – Art & Design, Music, and Religious Education (RE)
The training fee is fully funded by the apprenticeship levy, making this a cost‑effective route into teaching.
Entry Requirements
Qualifications
- A good degree (minimum 2:2) in the subject area you wish to teach or a closely related field. At least 50% of your degree should relate to the subject you intend to teach, or a Grade B at A-Level in that subject.
GCSEs
- English and Maths (minimum Grade C/4). If you do not yet meet these requirements, equivalency tests are available once an offer is made.
Personal Qualities
- A strong commitment to making a difference in the lives of young people and a genuine passion for teaching and learning.
Other Requirements
- Prior classroom experience is not required, though experience working with young people is advantageous. Successful applicants will undergo criminal record checks, health screening, and reference checks.
