The English programme at Bromley Schools' Collegiate prepares you to teach both English Literature and English Language at secondary school level. You will be trained to develop students’ reading, writing, and analytical skills, while fostering a love for literature and language. The course focuses on helping students understand literary texts, write creatively and persuasively, and develop their communication skills. With two placements, you will gain hands‑on teaching experience in a supportive environment, gradually taking on more responsibility as you plan and deliver lessons.
Key Focus Areas

- You will learn how to teach students to engage with texts critically, write effectively, and express their ideas clearly.

Bursaries & Scholarships
A £5,000 bursary is available for eligible applicants. DfE scholarships for English are also available for high‑calibre applicants, offering professional development and additional support.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have a degree (minimum 2:2) in English or a related field. You will also need GCSEs in English and Maths (C/4 or above). Prior classroom experience is not required, but any relevant experience with young people is helpful.

QTS only: £8,000
QTS with PGCE: £9,200 (These fees are fixed for September 2025)
