Versus Arthritis is the UK’s largest charity dedicated to supporting people with arthritis. We are here for everyone; we don’t want to wait until arthritis has taken the best years of anyone’s life. We want to stop arthritis in its tracks as quickly as possible. Our goal is to find treatments that offer hope of remission or cure. We use our expertise and the voices of people living with arthritis to challenge misconceptions, and support people to live their lives to the full, ensuring UK governments recognise the impact arthritis has on our communities, making it a priority. From challenging and influencing Government and other policy makers to get the big decisions right, supporting people to live well with arthritis, to working with people with arthritis and our supporters we are making real headway.

The role involves diversifying and expanding the lived experience and skills of our board with five new trustees. Some will be replacing trustees who are at the end of their term of office, while others are additional posts to help with this diversification. We want to attract people who have a strong connection to our cause, hoping that many of our new trustees will be living with, or caring for someone with arthritis and can demonstrate strong skill sets in one or more of the following areas:

  • Investment and Finance: bringing financial and investment decision making expertise.
  • Legal and HR: bringing expertise to our people and governance decisions.
  • Marketing and Communications: bringing expertise in amplifying our voice and profile.
  • Commercial and Fundraising: bringing expertise to support our focus on fundraising diversity and investment.
  • Services: with a good understanding of safeguarding; bringing clinical or nursing expertise, or with experience of running/commissioning services similar to ours, to support our work to refine our services offer UK wide.
  • Volunteering: either as an experienced volunteer, or in leading volunteering services.

We are committed to providing reasonable adjustments throughout our recruitment process and we’ll always endeavour to be as accommodating as possible. If you would like to discuss any specific requirements, please get in touch with Rebecca Davy.
