We are looking for an experienced Programme Management Office (PMO) specialist with a passion for helping organisations deliver better outcomes through effective project and programme management (PPM). You should relish the challenge of helping organisations grow their PPM capabilities, embed a consistent approach, and be a confident, strategic thinker able to highlight risks and opportunities across the organisational portfolio, challenge and provide constructive solutions that add value and lead to better results.
The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver priorities that create safer London communities.
The MOPAC Programme Management Office (PMO) is at the core of MOPAC’s priority programmes, working with Programme Boards to direct delivery, ensure accurate progress reporting, and manage risks, issues and dependencies. The PMO also works with stakeholders, namely Project Sponsors and Leads, building key relationships and sharing best practice in Programme and Project Management.
The PMO Lead will manage a team of project support officers and work with project teams to plan, deliver and report on their work. MOPAC encourages continuous learning and improvement; the PMO offers and shares experiences from past projects and identifies opportunities for cross‑organisational learning through a Lessons‑Learned Log.
Key responsibilities:
- Engage Project Sponsors and Project Leads to help them navigate MOPAC’s five‑stage Project Management Lifecycle.
- Work with Project Leads to collate and report monthly Project Dashboards for the Programme Highlight Report, managed by the PPM Lead.
- Lead the management of Programme Boards, collate information into highlight reports and produce a monthly programme ‘health check’ across the portfolio.
- Support Project Leads in using MOPAC’s Project Management Toolkit, including providing demonstrations, advice and guidance for the tools.
- Maintain and update MOPAC’s Corporate Dashboard, ensuring timely updates of key information.
- Maintain and update the MOPAC Project Management Toolkit.
- Contribute to MOPAC’s commitment to continuous learning and improvement by managing a Lessons Learned Log.
- Own and develop the MOPAC Corporate Performance Dashboard.
