Location: Hybrid – 2 days a week in the London Office, Stratford.

The Head of News leads and manages a high‑performing team, developing dynamic and high‑impact media campaigns to give a voice to those suffering from mental health problems and to advance the charity’s policy, information work, and national services.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience leading, planning, implementing, reviewing, and evaluating media strategies with a focus on proactively shaping the news agenda.
  • News sense with a proven track record of developing media stories from scratch, working on high‑profile stories, and handling complex enquiries from journalists.
  • Experience responding to crisis media stories that present reputational risk.
  • Ability to prepare and brief senior spokespeople and service users for media interviews.
  • Significant knowledge and experience of using social media as part of media and PR campaigns.
  • Experience monitoring and evaluating the quality and impact of media campaigns.
  • Experience managing media volunteers, including stewardship, safeguarding and data protection.
