GLA Economics’ work informs key decisions at the Greater London Authority (GLA). Joining at a critical time, this role is an opportunity to produce high-quality economic analysis to ensure that GLA strategies and projects are based on sound evidence.

About the role

We are recruiting to fill one Grade 7 Economist post. This role is based in the GLA Economics sub-team primarily responsible for delivering long-run employment projections and regular labour market monitoring. The successful candidate will have a varied role, providing analytical support on these and other topics of interest, such as immigration and productivity trends. The role will involve both long-term projects and meeting short-term demands for data and analysis, working closely with colleagues from across the GLA group.

About you

  • a professional qualification in Economics or an equivalent qualification
  • experience of producing high-quality and policy-relevant quantitative analysis
  • a proven ability to communicate analysis in a way that is accessible and impactful

Familiarity with statistical software packages such as R or Stata is desirable. We welcome applications from candidates who may have less experience in some of the required criteria, but who are curious and willing to develop. Gaps can be developed on-the-job and training can be made available.

Location

This role will be based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL). GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
