Our client is seeking an experienced Senior User Researcher to lead user-centred research activities across complex digital transformation programmes within public and private sector environments. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and collaborative research professional who is passionate about understanding user needs, shaping inclusive digital services, and influencing service design through evidence-based insights. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary agile teams, senior stakeholders, designers, product professionals, and technical specialists to deliver impactful user-centred services and support organisational transformation. The role also offers opportunities to mentor team members, contribute to capability development, and support the growth of a collaborative and people-focused research practice.
Location: Manchester, with flexibility to work across UK office and client locations. Working Pattern: Hybrid and flexible working available.
Responsibilities
- Designing, planning, and delivering user research activities across complex digital services and transformation programmes.
- Advising clients on solving organisational and service challenges through user research, agile delivery, and people-centred design approaches.
- Leading multidisciplinary agile teams to deliver services aligned with user and business needs.
- Advocating for inclusive and accessible user research methodologies.
- Conducting and synthesising qualitative and quantitative research to generate actionable insights.
- Supporting service design and product development decisions through evidence-based recommendations.
- Building and maintaining strong stakeholder and client relationships.
- Facilitating workshops, stakeholder engagement sessions, and collaborative research activities.
- Managing challenging conversations and influencing decision-making with tact and professionalism.
- Supporting, mentoring, and line managing user researchers and wider team members.
- Contributing to recruitment, business development, thought leadership, and community initiatives.
- Promoting user-centred design and research practices internally and externally.
Requirements
- Extensive experience applying user research methodologies across a variety of delivery environments.
- Strong experience working within multidisciplinary agile teams.
- Proven ability to lead and influence user-centred design and service design approaches.
- Strong stakeholder management and consultancy skills.
- Experience conducting accessibility-focused or assisted digital user research.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- The ability to manage conflict and communicate complex or sensitive information effectively.
- Experience mentoring, managing, or developing other researchers or team members.
- Strong understanding of agile delivery roles across design, product, and technology functions.
