Our client is seeking a Technical Engineer to join their Fleet Technical Support Group (TSG) within a large-scale aviation engineering organisation. This role offers a unique opportunity to support a complex, diverse commercial aircraft fleet operating across a global network. Based at a major UK aviation hub, the successful candidate will work in a fast-paced operational environment, providing specialist technical support, driving aircraft reliability, and contributing to safety, performance, and cost-efficiency initiatives. This position is well suited to licensed aircraft engineers or experienced technical support professionals looking to progress within fleet-level engineering and technical management.
Responsibilities
- Improve aircraft technical performance through proactive use of aircraft health monitoring and prognostic tools
- Conduct repetitive defect analysis, reliability reviews, and safety investigations
- Provide specialist on-site technical support in accordance with regulatory, safety, operational, and commercial requirements
- Analyse and manage safety reports and recurring technical issues
- Source and interpret approved maintenance data to support safe maintenance, repair, and modification activities
- Ensure compliance with established technical procedures to meet fleet performance, safety, and cost targets
- Support AOG recovery and minimise technical delays across line stations
- Coordinate and support technical activity across operational locations
- Lead and contribute to technical discussions across departments, supporting informed decision-making
- Develop clear work instructions to support certifying engineers with fault isolation and compliance
- Contribute to continuous improvement, process simplification, and change initiatives
- Support business development and operational improvement projects aligned with the wider business plan
Requirements
Essential
- HNC / HND (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering
- Eligibility to hold and exercise EASA Part 145 Technical Engineer and/or Part 21 approvals as required
- Strong understanding of safety and quality management systems
- Proven experience within an operational aviation engineering environment
- Strong analytical and technical decision-making capability
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure situations
Desirable
- B1 and/or B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (without type rating)
- Degree-level qualification in Engineering or equivalent professional experience
- Experience working in Part 21 and/or Part M environments supporting Part 145 operations
- Recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience
- Ability to hold CAA or company-specific technical approvals
- Good technical knowledge of multiple commercial aircraft types
- Experience in supplier and stakeholder management
