Overview

Our client, a leading independent organisation in the responsible investment sector, is seeking a Senior Research Manager to lead the development and delivery of a high-profile benchmark report on global insurance companies. This role combines strategic project management with in-depth sectoral research to evaluate and influence how financial institutions address key environmental and social challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the production of the 2026 benchmark on leading global insurance companies.
  • Manage and support a team of researchers, coordinating information gathering, analysis, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with external partners, including NGOs, to conduct the benchmark survey and validate findings.
  • Present research outputs to stakeholders including financial institutions, regulators, and civil society actors.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations for improvement within the financial sector.
  • Support development of organisational strategy related to insurance sector influence and engagement.

Key Requirements

  • Proven project management experience with the ability to lead complex research projects to tight deadlines.
  • Strong research background in fields such as finance, sustainability, economics, or public policy.
  • Familiarity with responsible investment principles and trends across the financial services sector.
  • Line management experience, with a proven ability to guide and develop research teams.
  • Experience handling multiple stakeholders and external collaborators.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and good working knowledge of Python (or willingness to develop these skills).
  • Professional or academic background in financial institutions or responsible investment.
  • Experience designing and executing surveys, and handling qualitative or quantitative data.
  • Understanding of biodiversity, climate, human rights, and public health as they relate to financial practice.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (ideally Salesforce), Microsoft SharePoint, and Office 365.
  • Prior experience with AI-assisted research tools and innovation in data analysis.
