Overview
Our client is seeking a Practice & Policy Lead to play a pivotal role in an innovative, multi-organisational programme focused on climate resilience and emergency preparedness across the UK. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence policy and practice at both local and national levels, helping to shape more inclusive and effective responses to climate-related challenges. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative partnership programme funded through a significant long-term investment supporting community action on climate change and environmental resilience. The role is ideally suited to an experienced policy, resilience, or public affairs professional with a strong understanding of emergency preparedness systems and a commitment to equality, inclusion, and rights-based approaches.
Responsibilities
- Lead policy and practice development activities relating to climate resilience and emergency preparedness.
- Influence local and national policy to improve outcomes for communities most affected by climate change.
- Build effective relationships across statutory agencies, voluntary sector organisations, community groups, and equality-focused organisations.
- Act as a bridge between resilience stakeholders and underrepresented communities.
- Support the development of evidence-based recommendations that strengthen resilience planning and response frameworks.
- Collaborate with programme partners to deliver strategic objectives and maximise programme impact.
- Promote inclusive, rights-based approaches within emergency preparedness and response systems.
- Represent the programme at meetings, events, consultations, and stakeholder forums.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience influencing policy, practice, or systems change.
- Strong understanding of emergency preparedness, resilience, crisis response, or related sectors.
- Experience working with public sector, voluntary sector, or community-based organisations.
- Knowledge of equality, diversity, inclusion, human rights, or social justice principles.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and advocacy abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple organisations and sectors.
