UX Designer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering digital products and services.

This role is ideal for a design professional looking to further develop their career in a collaborative consultancy environment while working on meaningful projects that place users at the centre of every decision.

The successful candidate will take a pragmatic, evidence-based approach to creating intuitive, accessible, and engaging digital experiences, working closely with researchers, product teams, and developers throughout the design lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • User Experience Design
  • Collaborate with colleagues, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to identify user needs and business challenges.
  • Apply user-centred design methodologies to define, design, test, and iterate digital experiences.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that address specific user and business requirements.
  • Develop design solutions that balance usability, accessibility, technical feasibility, and business objectives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of digital products through iterative design and testing.
  • Research & Discovery
  • Participate in user research activities and support the translation of insights into actionable design improvements.
  • Use evidence and research findings to inform design decisions and prioritisation.
  • Work closely with user researchers and service designers to understand user behaviours, needs, and pain points.
  • Validate design concepts through testing and feedback.
  • Design Systems & Accessibility
  • Contribute to and utilise design systems to ensure consistency, scalability, and quality across products and services.
  • Ensure all designs comply with accessibility standards, including WCAG guidelines.
  • Promote inclusive design principles to ensure products are accessible to diverse user groups.
  • Advocate for best practices in usability, accessibility, and user-centred design.
  • Facilitate design workshops, collaborative sessions, and design critiques to gather feedback and align stakeholders.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure designs are clearly communicated and effectively implemented.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to agile delivery processes and iterative product development.

Requirements

  • Experience working in UX Design, Product Design, or UX/UI Design roles within agile delivery environments.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar platforms.

  • Strong understanding of User-Centred Design (UCD) principles and methodologies.
  • Experience designing intuitive and accessible digital experiences.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and service design principles.
  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML and CSS to support collaboration with development teams.
  • Experience creating high-fidelity prototypes or coded prototypes.
  • Participation in design communities of practice, industry events, or knowledge-sharing initiatives.
