Our client is seeking an experienced Listing Team Leader to support the delivery of regional and national priorities relating to heritage designation, listing decisions, and expert casework management.
This is a full-time, permanent position with hybrid working available. The role can be based in Manchester, York, or Newcastle.
The successful candidate will support senior regional leadership in delivering corporate priorities, manage a specialist team, and contribute to maintaining the organisation’s reputation as a trusted expert body within the heritage, conservation, and historic environment sector.
Responsibilities
- Support regional leadership in the delivery of corporate priorities relating to designation and listing activity.
- Provide expert input to support national listing and designation decisions.
- Lead, manage, and motivate a team with diverse skills, responsibilities, and areas of expertise.
- Oversee national and regional casework, projects, and programmes.
- Ensure expert judgements are made in line with nationally consistent selection principles.
- Produce clear, evidence-based written advice and recommendations.
- Manage complex issues using strong analytical and decision‑making skills.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships at national and local levels.
- Promote the organisation’s interests and objectives through effective advocacy.
- Communicate persuasively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the continued reputation of the organisation as an expert authority in its field.
Requirements
- Experience in leading, managing, and motivating a specialist or multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to make expert judgements using nationally consistent principles and criteria.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and effective professional advice.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage complex issues.
- Proven ability to build strategic relationships and partnerships with stakeholders at local and national levels.

- Knowledge or experience within heritage, conservation, planning, historic environment, architecture, or a related field would be advantageous.
