At Smart Energy GB, we aim to engage and communicate with our diverse nation about the smart meter rollout across England, Scotland and Wales. We are an independent organisation set up by the government to deliver the national public engagement campaign, raise awareness of smart meters and drive adoption of this technology in everyone's homes. Smart meters are essential building blocks in the creation of a cleaner, greener energy system for the future.
We are looking for a highly organised Senior Insight Executive with a genuine passion for working in a creative and busy marketing environment and experience working in a relevant marketing research or insight role, and with solid experience and knowledge of a range of primary research methodologies to join our team in our London office. In this role, you will work closely with Insight Managers to deliver our consumer insight workstreams. You will be working across the entire project cycle with responsibilities that include briefing new research projects, project managing new and existing studies, conducting data investigations, and reporting findings of research projects to stakeholders. This will involve working across a range of quantitative and qualitative research projects, using both primary and secondary data sources to provide actionable insights.
Key Tasks / Responsibilities
- Responsible for day‑to‑day project management and delivery of designated research workstreams, working with Insight Managers in the areas of research design, analysis and stakeholder management.
- Responsible for delivery of internally‑produced research projects, including questionnaire design, fieldwork management, data structuring, analysis and report writing, aligning activities against project plans delivered to deadline.
- Conduct day‑to‑day liaison with research agencies across our wider research programme with minimal supervision.
- Work with the rest of the Insight & Analytics team to ensure that all research, insight, and data findings are communicated in a clear, concise, and articulate way.
- Work with Insight Managers to help our internal teams utilise research findings to shape their own actions in an effective and efficient manner.
- Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with key stakeholders, to provide support and strategic recommendations for the wider organisation.
- Work with the communications team to support the publishing of research findings to media, and external stakeholder audiences where appropriate.
- Deliver analysis projects utilising the full range of our commissioned research, secondary data sources and third‑party generated insight to provide strategic insight.
- Oversee reviews of third‑party generated insight and ensure that relevant findings are incorporated as appropriate.
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure that Insight & Analytics team research plans are set up appropriately and reflect broader organisational aims.
- Proactively identify efficient ways of working as a team, as well as any pressure points, coming up with recommendations for manager sign off and applying knowledge to improving processes within workstreams.
- Exercise excellent quality control to ensure consistent and accurate output is delivered from the Insight team.
Essential Skills, experience and competencies
- Experience of working in a relevant marketing research or insight role, with a genuine passion for working in a creative and busy marketing environment.
- Solid experience and knowledge of a range of primary research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative).
- Experience of project managing a complex and diverse programme of research, covering multiple activities and incorporating multiple datastreams.
- Skilled in distilling and interpreting research findings from multiple sources into clear and actionable stories for internal teams.
- Strong organisation skills and ability to manage projects in order to meet internal timelines.
- Excellent project management skills, with an ability to deliver projects to a high standard end‑to‑end.
- Strong IT skills, including the creation and management of spreadsheets and PowerPoints.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills (verbal/writing).
- Understanding and experience in using crosstabulation and other data analysis software (e.g., Q).
Desirable
- Preferably some research agency and advertising research experience.
- Experience in working with secondary data sources.
