Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Health Advisor to join their international programmes team on a 14-month fixed-term contract. This role offers the opportunity to provide specialist technical leadership across integrated WASH and public health programming within a global development environment. The successful candidate will work closely with country programmes, regional teams, technical specialists, and external partners to strengthen programme quality, support evidence-based interventions, and contribute to sustainable health and WASH outcomes across multiple regions. The role can be based in London, United Kingdom, or in one of several international programme locations, subject to the successful candidate’s right to work eligibility.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and technical advisory support on integrated WASH and health programming across diverse low-income settings.
- Support programmes relating to WASH in healthcare facilities, public health, environmental health, nutrition, infection prevention and control, maternal and child health, cholera, neglected tropical diseases, and related areas.
- Deliver high-quality technical analysis and advisory support throughout project design, implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and evaluation stages.
- Support country and regional teams in applying technical guidance, standards, and best practice approaches within local contexts.
- Contribute to organisational learning, knowledge management, and the development of practical technical resources.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration across internal and external technical networks.
- Support fundraising, external engagement, and communications activities related to health and WASH programming.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams across international settings.
- Champion organisational commitments relating to equity, inclusion, safeguarding, and ethical practice.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Significant technical expertise in integrated WASH and health programming.
- Experience across areas such as public health, environmental health, WASH in healthcare facilities, maternal and child health, infection prevention and control, nutrition, cholera, and related technical disciplines.
- Proven experience providing technical assistance, consultancy, or advisory services within international or development contexts.
- Ability to manage complex technical assignments and develop practical solutions to challenging issues.
- Strong written communication skills in English, including the ability to produce high-quality technical guidance and knowledge products for diverse audiences.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
- Strong IT literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 30%.
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills across multicultural environments.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience in systems strengthening, sustainable development, behaviour change, gender and inclusion, or other WASH-related technical areas.
- Experience working across Africa and/or South Asia.
- Working knowledge of Portuguese.
- Experience supporting integrated public health programming in low-resource settings.
