Overview

Our client is seeking an Indirect Tax Associate to join a growing Tax team in a newly created position. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to further develop their expertise in indirect taxation while gaining exposure to international operations, compliance activities, and process improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will support indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, work closely with finance and tax stakeholders, and contribute to the continuous improvement of tax processes and controls. Responsibilities

  • Review and support the preparation of indirect tax returns, including VAT and Insurance Premium Tax (IPT), across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ensure tax filings are accurate, complete, and compliant with local regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Tax, and external advisors to support efficient tax processes and reporting.
  • Assist with tax authority enquiries, audits, information requests, and compliance reviews.
  • Analyse financial and tax data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support the implementation of process enhancements and automation initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on the indirect tax implications of business transactions and activities.
  • Assist in identifying, assessing, and communicating tax risks to relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to team objectives and support workload planning and delivery.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and share relevant updates with colleagues.

Requirements

  • Experience working within UK indirect tax, ideally within financial services, insurance, or a complex corporate environment.
  • Part-qualified or qualified tax or accounting professional (ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting tax compliance, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to non-specialists.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Proactive approach to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Experience working within a multinational organisation or professional services environment.
  • Exposure to international indirect tax matters.
  • Knowledge of insurance-related taxation.
  • Familiarity with tax reporting systems, ERP platforms, or finance systems.
  • Experience supporting process improvement or automation initiatives.
