Our client is seeking an experienced Lead AWS DevOps Engineer to join a growing Managed Services function within a fast-paced digital consultancy environment. This is a senior technical leadership opportunity for a cloud and platform engineering professional with strong AWS expertise and a passion for building secure, scalable, and highly reliable cloud-native systems. The successful candidate will work across a range of client environments, supporting critical platforms and digital services while driving engineering best practices, automation, and operational excellence. The role combines hands-on technical delivery with strategic leadership responsibilities, including mentoring engineers, supporting service operations, contributing to engineering standards, and helping shape the wider managed services capability.

Responsibilities
- Leading the delivery and support of cloud-native infrastructure and managed service solutions
- Managing and optimising production workloads within AWS environments
- Supporting the reliability, scalability, and security of client platforms and services
- Implementing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code solutions using Terraform
- Managing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation processes
- Supporting containerised application deployment and orchestration environments
- Monitoring platform health, observability, and alerting using modern monitoring tools
- Troubleshooting complex infrastructure, deployment, and pipeline issues
- Supporting secure-by-design engineering and operational best practices
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Contributing to engineering standards, continuous improvement initiatives, and knowledge sharing
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and capability development within the managed services function
- Communicating technical issues and risks clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Participating in out-of-hours support and incident response through an on-call rota
Requirements
- Strong experience managing production AWS environments and cloud infrastructure
- Extensive experience with infrastructure-as-code, particularly Terraform
- Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, or similar tools
- Experience deploying and managing containerised applications
- Expertise in monitoring, observability, and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or Datadog
- Strong understanding of cloud security, platform reliability, and operational best practices
- Experience with Identity & Access Management solutions and enterprise identity platforms
- Experience working with headless CMS or content platforms
- Strong stakeholder communication and consultancy skills
- The ability to translate technical issues into business impact clearly and effectively
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership initiatives
- Experience within consultancy or managed services environments
- Exposure to cloud-native architectures and modern DevOps tooling
- Experience supporting digital transformation or large-scale platform operations
- Knowledge of agile delivery and multidisciplinary engineering environments
