Our client, a well-established and high-performing further education provider, is seeking an experienced Curriculum Manager – English to lead and develop GCSE English provision, with some responsibility for Functional Skills. This is a key leadership role focused on driving teaching excellence, learner achievement, and inclusive practice. The position combines strategic curriculum leadership with a reduced teaching commitment, offering an excellent opportunity to influence quality, outcomes, and progression across English provision.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and continuously develop the English curriculum, primarily GCSE English with some Functional Skills delivery.
- Deliver approximately 7.5 hours of teaching per week, modelling high-quality teaching practice.
- Drive outstanding learner outcomes through effective monitoring, tracking, and intervention.
- Develop and embed innovative, evidence-based teaching and learning strategies.
- Lead, support, and develop teaching teams to ensure consistent quality and continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with cross-college teams to enhance quality assurance, inclusion, and learner progression.
- Ensure safeguarding, equality, and compliance standards are fully embedded across the curriculum area.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in delivering GCSE English within a Further Education setting.
- Strong leadership and team development skills, with experience managing and motivating teaching teams.
- Clear commitment to high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Passion for learner success, progression, and inclusive education.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within education.
- Experience delivering or overseeing Functional Skills English.
- Experience contributing to curriculum innovation and quality improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of Ofsted inspection frameworks and quality assurance processes.
