Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Teaching & Learning Manager to lead quality improvement initiatives across a Further Education setting. This is a senior role focused on enhancing teaching standards, driving curriculum innovation, and supporting staff development to ensure outstanding learner outcomes. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in post-16 education, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to influence and develop teaching practice across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative teaching, learning, and assessment strategies.
  • Line manage a team of Teaching and Learning Coaches, ensuring high performance and impact.
  • Conduct learning walks, lesson observations, thematic reviews, and deep dives to assess quality.
  • Develop and implement targeted action plans to improve teaching standards.
  • Deliver coaching, mentoring, and professional development to teaching staff.
  • Facilitate workshops, peer learning sessions, and communities of practice to share best practice.
  • Promote high expectations in student behaviour, attendance, independent study, and academic progress.
  • Ensure alignment with current regulatory and inspection frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment in a post-16 environment (FE college, sixth form, or equivalent).
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in coaching, mentoring, and staff development.
  • In-depth knowledge of inspection frameworks and quality assurance in Further Education.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
