Our client, a UK-based digital consultancy, is seeking an experienced Senior Content Designer to join their multidisciplinary design practice. This role is ideal for a senior content professional with strong public‑sector experience who is passionate about inclusive, user‑centred design and enjoys working in Agile delivery environments.
As a senior consultant, you will act as a content design expert, lead and mentor others, influence client thinking, and shape end‑to‑end content strategies that meet user needs and organisational goals.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on solving complex problems using user‑centred content design and Agile methodologies.
- Design end‑to‑end service content and static web content that meets clearly defined user needs.
- Champion inclusive, accessible content design approaches and ensure alignment with WCAG standards.
- Establish and manage strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, including leading and facilitating workshops.
- Work confidently within rapid Agile sprint cycles across all phases of delivery.
- Use insights from user research and service metrics to inform content strategy and design decisions.
- Create, test, and iterate content prototypes in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Contribute to and shape design systems, content patterns, and style guides.
- Line manage, coach, and mentor content designers and support professional development.
- Actively participate in communities of practice, including content critiques and knowledge sharing.

Requirements
Content Design Expertise
- Extensive experience designing end‑to‑end service content within complex digital services.
- Strong writing skills, with experience contributing to and maintaining content style guides.
- Proven ability to make complex information clear and accessible for diverse audiences.
- Experience designing inclusive and accessible content and articulating decisions in relation to WCAG.
- Strong understanding of SEO principles and how they relate to content design.
- Experience using content management systems and managing content effectively.
Design Methods & Tools
- Experience creating and iterating prototypes using tools such as Miro, Figma, Sketch, or the GOV.UK prototyping kit.
- Ability to work with design patterns, content patterns, and information architecture principles.
- Experience using content audits to inform content maintenance and improvement plans.
- Ability to collaborate closely with subject matter experts, including pair‑writing.
Agile & Multidisciplinary Working
- Proven experience working in Agile delivery environments across Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live phases.
- Experience collaborating with user researchers, UX or interaction designers, product owners, delivery managers, developers, and business analysts.
- Ability to identify appropriate Agile processes and measure the success of outcomes.
- Confidence managing challenging conversations and explaining the value of user‑centred design.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience line managing, coaching, or mentoring colleagues.
- Ability to explain and defend design decisions clearly and professionally.
- Experience contributing to bids, proposals, or business documentation is desirable.
Industry Experience
- Extensive demonstrable experience as a content designer within the public sector.
- Strong working knowledge of the Government Digital Service (GDS) Digital Standard and Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) assessments.
- Experience working within the private sector is advantageous.
