Overview

Our client is a specialist charity supporting women experiencing significant disadvantage, helping individuals move from crisis and trauma towards greater independence and wellbeing within their communities. An opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Caseworker to join a specialist support team. This role focuses on supporting women engaged in street-based sex work who face substantial barriers to accessing mental health services. The successful candidate will provide trauma-informed practical and emotional support while advocating for improved access to mainstream mental health provision. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced support worker, caseworker, mental health practitioner, or outreach professional who is passionate about tackling health inequalities and delivering person-centred support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed, person-centred support to women experiencing multiple disadvantages.
  • Support clients in accessing appropriate mental health services and treatment pathways.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients with healthcare providers, statutory agencies, and partner organisations.
  • Develop trusted relationships that promote recovery, wellbeing, and independence.
  • Assist clients with a range of practical and emotional support needs.
  • Maintain accurate records, case notes, and support plans.
  • Participate in monthly outreach sessions, including occasional evening or night work.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and risk management processes.
  • Support service users in navigating complex systems and overcoming barriers to support.

Service Development & Team Contribution

  • Participate in reflective practice, supervision, and team development activities.
  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and organisational objectives.
  • Promote equality, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice throughout service delivery.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health needs, complex trauma, homelessness, substance misuse, or multiple disadvantages.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred approaches.
  • Strong advocacy, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload effectively.
  • Experience working collaboratively with statutory and voluntary sector partners.
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.

Occupational Requirement

Due to the nature of the service provided, this role is subject to a lawful Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010. Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria specified by our client.
