Artistic Leadership Opportunity
Location: Liverpool (Full-time or Part-time)
Overview
Our client is seeking new artistic leadership to guide the next chapter of their nationally recognised theatre company. With a strong legacy of producing bold, inclusive, and socially impactful theatre, the organisation is now looking for a visionary leader to work alongside the Co-CEO/Executive Director.
This is a unique opportunity for a creative and strategic leader who is passionate about working with culturally diverse and working-class young people and communities. The role will shape the company’s future programme, ensuring its continued artistic excellence, sustainability, and national impact.
The structure of this role is intentionally flexible. Applicants may apply as:
- Co-CEO/Artistic Director
- Artistic Director (with potential to develop into Co-CEO/AD)
- Job share (two individuals splitting the role part-time)
Responsibilities
- Provide artistic leadership for the organisation, ensuring a bold, inclusive, and high-quality programme.
- Curate and deliver innovative theatre and creative projects that engage and empower young people and communities.
- Collaborate closely with the Co-CEO/Executive Director to ensure the organisation’s sustainability and long-term growth.
- Champion equity, diversity, and accessibility across all artistic programming and company practices.
- Lead with creativity, integrity, and care while inspiring the next generation of artists and audiences.
- Shape the organisation’s post-2026 artistic direction and contribute to its strategic vision.
Requirements
- Proven experience in artistic leadership within theatre, performing arts, or related fields.
- Demonstrated commitment to co-creation and collaboration with young people and communities.
- A strong track record of producing or directing high-quality, innovative, and socially relevant work.
- Ability to inspire and lead teams with creativity and integrity.
- A clear vision for the future of inclusive and community-driven theatre.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work in partnership with an Executive Director or leadership team.
- Competitive salary of £37,500 – £42,500 (pro rata for part-time/job share).
