Our client is seeking a commercially focused Account Manager to join a Distribution function, partnering with intermediaries and corporate clients to drive profitable growth across the South West. This role involves developing and retaining high-value accounts, delivering agreed sales targets, and executing distribution strategies in line with internal policies and delegated authorities.
The territory includes the South West and surrounding areas (including, but not limited to: Bristol, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, Wiltshire, Southampton, Poole, and South Wales). This opportunity will suit a confident relationship builder who can combine market insight and technical knowledge to strengthen broker partnerships and deliver sustainable results.
Responsibilities- Deliver profitable growth within the allocated territory by achieving new business and retention targets.
- Develop new and existing relationships with intermediaries and corporate clients to meet defined sales objectives.
- Implement strategic account plans and contribute to distribution and growth strategies.
- Review and manage existing portfolios, recommending actions to optimise profitability, growth, and product mix.
- Collaborate with internal teams (including Underwriting, Operations, and Claims) to deliver excellent client outcomes.
- Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring solutions meet client needs while remaining within underwriting guidelines and delegated authorities.
- Provide product insight, market intelligence, and performance updates to support decision-making and target delivery.
- Significant experience within insurance, reinsurance, or a broker environment, with strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and distribution models.
- Solid understanding of underwriting guidelines, delegated authorities, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to manage and grow corporate client portfolios.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Commercially astute, results-driven, and proactive in identifying opportunities and solving problems.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and deliver to tight deadlines.
