Monday – Friday 40 hours (Flexibility required in start and finish times) The Transport Planning Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the effective deployment and routing of delivery vehicles across the UK. This role ensures the efficient management of Transport Operators, guiding them in daily route planning, resource allocation, and adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs). The supervisor is instrumental in driving a high level of customer service while optimizing fleet efficiency, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and meeting budgetary targets. The role includes maintaining workplace health and safety standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Responsibilities * Plan a fleet of up to 160 vehicles across 3 depots * Lead and support the Transport Operators to ensure smooth and efficient operations. * Supervise the daily operations of the transport team, managing resource allocation, and ensuring driver workloads are appropriately distributed. * Oversee communication between drivers, depot staff, and other teams, ensuring that all necessary updates and information are shared in a timely manner. * Ensure that Transport Operators effectively monitor delivery schedules, and resolve issues promptly, to maintain customer satisfaction and operational targets. * Track delivery progress through software tools, ensuring all drivers are on schedule, and escalate any issues to senior management if necessary. * Work closely with the Operations Department to ensure vehicle maintenance and servicing schedules are followed without interruption. * Monitor the Transport Operators' communication with drivers to ensure proper briefing at the start of each shift and debriefing at the end, ensuring compliance with Proof of Deliveries (PODs) and timesheets. * Support the Transport Operators in reducing empty running, improving network efficiency, and revising plans as necessary to meet operational requirements. * Collaborate with the Delivery Service Team to provide timely and accurate updates on Estimated Times of Arrival (ETAs) and adjust plans based on customer demand. * Ensure the Transport Operators adhere to UK and EU regulations regarding working hours, driver safety, and transport compliance. * Oversee the preparation and submission of KPI reports, identifying areas for improvement and acting on feedback to ensure performance targets are met. * Participate in performance reviews for the Transport Operators, offering constructive feedback and recommendations for improvements. Experience/Skills Required * Previous experience as a Transport Supervisor or Senior Planner within a busy transport office. * Proven ability to lead and manage a team, including monitoring performance and implementing improvement strategies. * Commercially aware of how a transport operation function to be profitable with some exposure to financials * Strong understanding of transport operating systems and industry regulations (UK and EU). * Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines. * Excellent interpersonal skills, good at relationship building and a strong communicator. * Ability to plan, prioritise, work to deadlines, without supervision and on their own initiative. * Working knowledge of TMS Systems and tachograph regulations. * In-depth knowledge of the Working Time Directive (WTD) and EU Drivers Hours regulations. CPC International Qualification (Desirable)
