A Family Court Adviser is required for Cafcass in Newcastle. The Family Court Adviser role provides advanced social work support to children, families, and courts within family proceedings, ensuring the child’s welfare and safeguarding remain central to all decision-making. The role involves assessing risk, analysing complex cases, advising courts on child protection and welfare concerns, and working directly with children and families to achieve positive outcomes.

Duties Include:

  • Complete advanced Social Work Level case analysis of the child's circumstances.
  • Assisting the Court to achieve a timely conclusion to proceedings and the best possible outcome for the child.
  • Comply with orders made by the Family Court and conduct enquiries in accordance with relevant legislation and court rules.
  • Provide a child focused plan of work in each case to be monitored and subject to review.
  • Ensure appointment and instruction of legal representation for the child as required and work with partner agencies.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, court rules, policies, procedures and best practice.
