About the role:

We have a new opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join our growing private psychiatry clinic. We are a close-knit team in a start-up business and are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate individual who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role is patient-facing and plays a key part in the assessment pathway. You will conduct 15-minute telephone consultations with new patients, screen referrals for suitability, book appropriate assessments, and accurately document clinical notes. You will be the first clinical point of contact for many of our patients and will help ensure they receive the right support at the right time.

Tasks include:

  • Conducting 15-minute telephone screening consultations with new patients
  • Assessing suitability for further psychiatric or psychological assessment
  • Booking patients into appropriate assessment pathways
  • Documenting accurate and detailed clinical notes following each consultation
  • Managing and reviewing referral information
  • Handling patient enquiries via telephone and email
  • Liaising with clinicians regarding suitability and case queries
  • Maintaining patient records with up-to-date and accurate information
  • Supporting the wider clinical and administrative team where required

Skills and Qualities Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in Psychology (essential)
  • Previous experience in a mental health, CAMHS, or private healthcare setting (desirable)
  • Confident and professional telephone manner
  • Ability to manage sensitive conversations with empathy and clarity
  • Strong clinical note-writing skills
  • Good understanding of common mental health presentations
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to follow clinical protocols and make sound screening decisions
  • High levels of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Previous experience using Microsoft programmes i.e. Word, Excel
  • Good levels of literacy and numeracy
  • Ability to think on your feet in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to use your own initiative
  • Strong team-working skills
