Our client is a well-established Heathrow freight forwarding agent who have an exciting new role available based out of their Slough Contract Logistics Centre for a Junior Traffic Specialist. Working hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate will have basic IT skills (Word/Excel) with excellent verbal and written English. This is a dual role of administration and physical operations, suitable for someone with a high level of energy and confidence and the ability to multi-task throughout the day. It is essential to have a 5-year steady employment/education history and a clear DBS check. Full training will be provided in delivery route planning and forklift certification, with excellent future career prospects. This role suits someone looking for a combined warehouse and office position who can easily commute to Slough, SL1, such as a college leaver or someone in their second job.
Employment Terms:
- Salary: £24,000, with potential overtime to cover holiday periods, sickness, etc.
- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
- Reporting to Transport Manager
- Team: The successful candidate will be part of a new, small team with excellent opportunities for training and development in all aspects of road freight.
Essential Functions:
- Follow laid out working procedures to ensure effective transport planning of domestic pallet movements together with partnership pallet network.
- Support operational KPIs and monitoring of service delivery on collections and deliveries.
- Booking of deliveries and collections.
- Raising files on Cargo Wise.
- Liaison with pallet network partner.
- Ensure effective and efficient loading of pallets with other warehouse operatives to meet customer service levels.
- Working closely with 3rd party drivers to ensure timely departures.
- Collaborating with office staff to ensure that deliveries and collections align with customer expectations.
- Supporting the Transport Manager in any other areas required.
- Daily warehouse operational work including loading and offloading trailers, movement of pallets using forklift and pallet trucks.
- Scanning of pallets and moving pallets around in the warehouse.
- Support ETSF compliance in sign-off of release notes and manifest checks.
- Promote changes in operations to enhance efficiency or cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist the Transport Manager when and where required.
Qualifications Required:
- Methodical approach to work with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow systematically laid out working procedures.
- PC literacy is essential.
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
- Strong customer care skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- A forklift licence is useful but training can be given.
Working Environment:
Role performed in an internal office with some time spent in a warehouse environment.
