An exciting new position is available at Heathrow for this dynamic, rapidly expanding Forwarder for a Freight Account Manager. The successful candidate will have a freight forwarding import or export and customs background or multi-modal freight operations. Cross training will be provided in the areas needed, and it is essential they have excellent client interaction skills and commercial awareness.

Employment Terms:

  • The company is offering a base salary between £35-40k NEG depending on level of experience.
  • General hours are Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:30hrs (some flexibility when required).

Job Overview:

The role for a Freight Account Manager is extremely varied where you will become a key member of an operations team, actively involved in managing imports and export shipments from start to finish. You will be responsible for arranging shipments by the appropriate method to suit the clients' requirements, i.e. airfreight, road freight, courier, sea freight, and cross trade movements. You will be hands-on with every aspect of the forwarding process, ensuring the customer receives the highest level of service, and that they receive their goods safely and on time.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Working to strict deadlines to coordinate worldwide multimodal imports and exports with end-to-end responsibility (including collections, airline bookings, liaising with overseas agents/customers until delivered).
  • Strong customer relationships to understand requirements and always deliver excellent customer service.
  • Airline booking and processing relevant import/export documentation including AWBs, CMRs, and BOLs.
  • Submitting import and export customs entries using ASM Sequoia.
  • Liaising effectively and building close relationships with our supply chain including shippers, importers, agents, and clients.
  • Quotations, pricing, and invoicing clients.

Requirements, Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3+ years experience in a start-to-finish role in either air freight imports or exports.
  • Customs entry experience.
  • Customer service - excellent telephone manner and English communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Computer literate - good level on Microsoft Word/Excel.
  • In-house systems - use of Cargowise One is considered an advantage.
