Our client is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our finance team. This is a perfect opportunity for a recent graduate looking to start their accounting career. You will support the day-to-day operations of the finance department, ensuring accurate data entry, timely payment processing, and assisting with monthly financial reporting. You will work under the guidance of senior finance staff while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Bookkeeping & Transactions: Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately.
- Accounts Payable (AP): Process vendor invoices, match them with purchase orders, and prepare weekly payment runs.
- Accounts Receivable (AR): Issue invoices to customers, process receipts, and assist with credit control/collections.
- Reconciliations: Perform daily or monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile AP/AR ledgers to the general ledger.
- Month-End Support: Assist with month-end closing procedures, including accruals, prepayments, and updating financial schedules.
- Expense Management: Review and process employee expense reports and petty cash.
- Compliance & Tax: Assist with VAT/BAS return preparation and provide support for annual audits.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate digital/physical filing systems and assist with ad-hoc projects.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (or equivalent).
- Experience: 02 years of experience (internships in accounting are a plus).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially intermediate to advanced Excel skills (Vlookups, Pivot Tables).
- Software Knowledge: Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or SAP is highly desirable.
- Key Competencies: Strong numerical and analytical skills. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
