Role Overview

We are seeking a driven and commercially focused Business Development Executive to support and deliver growth across our foodservice, eventing, catering and wholesale sales channels. This role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, growing existing accounts, supporting and developing key customer relationships, and driving sustainable year‑on‑year revenue growth. Reporting to the National Account Manager, this role offers a strong opportunity for career development within the bakery industry. It is well suited to a candidate who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, excels at building and maintaining relationships, and is willing to undertake both UK‑based and occasional international travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of business development strategies across UK foodservice, eventing, catering and wholesale markets
  • Identify, prospect, and onboard new clients across key segments
  • Manage and grow existing customer accounts to maximise revenue opportunities
  • Support commercial negotiations (pricing, contracts, promotions)
  • Work cross‑functionally with supply chain, marketing, and finance teams to ensure excellent customer delivery
  • Analyse sales performance, market trends, and customer data
  • Report to manager with monthly sales, forecasts, and pipeline updates
  • Support product launches, new listings, and customer presentations
  • Represent the business at trade shows and customer meetings
  • Travel as required to support customer engagement and business growth

Key Skills, Experience & Background

  • Experience in business development, sales, or FMCG is essential
  • A strong interest in foodservice, wholesale, or FMCG markets is essential
  • Knowledge or exposure to the baked goods / bread category is beneficial
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and shadow senior team members to build commercial capability
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Commercial awareness with an interest in negotiation and sales strategy
  • Comfortable working with data and systems (e.g., Excel, CRM, ERP platforms)
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, and eager to develop a career in sales
  • Willingness to travel as part of the role
  • Full UK Driving Licence
