Overview

We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support, maintain, and commission a range of electro‐mechanical and software‐driven systems. This field‐based position combines remote diagnostics, on‐site technical work, customer interaction, and occasional installation activity. You will work within a wider service function to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and in line with customer expectations. This opportunity is ideal for a technically minded individual who enjoys hands‐on problem‐solving and representing a professional engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and commissioning across a varied product range.
  • Provide technical support via phone, remote access tools, and site visits.
  • Diagnose faults efficiently and aim for first‐time resolution wherever possible.
  • Assist with system installations, configuration, testing, and customer handover.
  • Maintain accurate job sheets, time logs, and service documentation.
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Keep tools, vehicle stock, and equipment organised and in safe working condition.
  • Build positive customer relationships and act professionally at all times.
  • Support colleagues by sharing technical knowledge and contributing to team goals.
  • Identify and pass on potential upgrade or improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in occasional out‐of‐hours, weekend, or shift‐based work when required.
  • Be willing to travel and stay away overnight when necessary.

Essential Requirements

  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with PC‐based systems and network‐connected hardware.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working at height.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem‐solving skills.
  • Reliable, organised, self‐motivated, and customer‐focused.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to work overtime and occasionally stay away from home.

Desirable Skills

  • HNC/HND/ONC or similar in electrical or electronic engineering.
  • Experience with IT networking or PC maintenance.
  • Knowledge of parking, access control, CCTV, or wireless communication systems.
