Role Overview
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Air Conditioning Engineer to deliver high‑quality maintenance and repair services across a portfolio of retail sites. While the role is primarily air‑conditioning focused, a multi‑skilled approach with solid mechanical and electrical (M&E) knowledge is essential. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault‑finding, and small works across HVAC systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation in customer‑facing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver scheduled Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and respond promptly to reactive maintenance and breakdowns across retail stores and distribution sites.
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs on a wide range of air conditioning systems, including Splits, VRFs, AHUs, DX systems, and occasional central plant equipment.
- Support system upgrades and retrofit projects, ensuring minimal disruption to retail operations.
- Provide accurate quotations for remedial work or system replacements following service visits.
- Maintain and update FGAS compliance records and internal reporting systems.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, and site managers to ensure seamless service delivery.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (minimum requirement).
- F‑Gas Certification (C&G 2079 Category 1) mandatory.
- Strong technical knowledge of air conditioning systems and general mechanical building services.
- Previous experience in a mobile commercial or retail maintenance role.
- Excellent fault‑finding and diagnostic skills, with a proactive and customer‑focused approach.
- Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points).
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent desirable but not essential.
