A permanent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Vehicle Technician to join a busy fleet maintenance operation supporting essential frontline services across the North Somerset area. This role is based at a modern workshop facility in Weston-super-Mare.

What We're Looking For

  • Time-served apprenticeship with City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 or an equivalent qualification in vehicle maintenance.
  • An LGV Class C / HGV Class 2 licence is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong ability to work independently, safely and effectively in a physically demanding setting.
  • Demonstrable experience maintaining commercial vehicles to a high standard, including diagnostics, repairs and routine servicing.
  • Solid understanding of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, particularly those used in waste or municipal fleet operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance, servicing and repairs on a variety of commercial vehicles, plant and equipment in line with DVSA requirements and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Complete inspections, prepare vehicles for testing and ensure all service documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Respond to breakdowns, identify faults quickly and arrange recovery or external support where required.
  • Maintain high standards of workshop safety, ensuring tools, equipment and work areas are used correctly and kept in good order.
  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues and support the development of apprentices.
  • Build positive working relationships with internal customers and contribute to an organised, efficient workshop environment.
